How To Prepare:
- Get plenty of sleep.
- Be sure to eat before your photography session.
- Arrive 20-30 minutes early so you have time to relax and get ready. If you think you need more time to get ready, just let us know.
- Bring a variety of outfits to choose from.
- Do not bring all the same color or style of clothing.
- For traditional headshots, solid dark tones are best. The longer the sleeves are, the better. Note: dark solid colors make you appear thinner, while lighter clothing makes you appear heavier. Bold stripes and patterns can distract from you.
- Ladies, sleeveless clothing is not usually recommended, especially if you are considered full-figured. Bring at least two long sleeved tops. Hang up your clothing nicely.
- Trying new hairstyles or perms right before your portrait session can lead to canceled appointments due to your dissatisfaction with your hair.
- Let us know if you have a preferred side to be photographed from, or a specific feature to show off or hide.
Skin Problems
Facial retouching is available on your final prints to remove blemishes or lines under the eyes. It is not a bad idea to carefully apply some blemish concealer on the noticeable blemishes. If you have oily or shiny skin, put on some powder. Digital enhancements can take care of scars, tan lines, lens reflection on glasses, etc. This can become costly, so do everything you can to avoid the need for this.
Glasses
If you wear glasses, ask your optometrist to lend you empty frames or to temporarily remove your lenses. This will eliminate the possibility of lens reflection.
Suntans
Avoid overexposing yourself to the sun or tanning beds before having your portrait taken. This may cause your skin to look red or unnatural and cannot be covered up by makeup. Avoid clothing or haircuts that will show tan lines.
Props
Feel free to bring props that reflect your personality. Remember that excessive amounts of props can slow down your shoot and result in fewer portraits being taken.
Crazy Ideas
Setting things on fire, herds of cattle in the studio or shooting your portrait on top of Mount Rushmore are all possibilities, some may happen for real, and some may be created digitally. We are the studio of choice to tackle your active imagination.
